FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What type of dogs do you accept?
We accept small/medium-sized adult dogs aged 1 year+. We don’t accept puppies, intact males or unneutured females.
Do you offer regular walks and daycare?
We are geared for overnight care, so with regret, we are unable to commit to regular days each week.
Do you accept dogs who suffer from separation anxiety?
No. If in doubt, please book in for a trial. Can I visit you with my dog before leaving him?
Absolutely! We encourage familiarisation visits so your dog feels completely comfortable with us before being left. When possible, we like to spend time with your dog to be sure we are the right fit for each other, so suggest you book in for a day care session with us.
What do I need to provide for my dogs stay?
Bring all food needed for your dog’s stay, along with their lead, treats, bed and anything else that will help them feel at home. We have plenty of fridge and freezer space for raw food. We will need up-to-date details of your vet, evidence of flea treatment, your dog’s microchip number and your emergency contact number. We welcome as much information about your dog as you can give us.
How much exercise will my dog get?
We like to give them two good walks a day, but can tailor lengths to your preferences. We like to let our charges run free off the lead, so if you are happy with that, we will need your written consent.
How many dogs will be staying at the London Dog Hotel at any one time?
We are look after a maximum of three dogs at one time, including Ziggy, Suzy’s dog.
Where will my dog be spending its time?
They’ll be scampering through woodlands, splashing about in ponds, playing in the garden, watching the birds feed, cuddling up with us, having their tummy scratched and snoozing peacefully in our cosy open-plan living room.
Where will my dog sleep?
Your dog will sleep with the other dogs in our large open-plan living room. They’ll have full access to the sofas, armchairs, sheepskin rugs and their own beds. We are willing to use crates if supplied.
What times can I drop off and pick up my dog?
To suit you.
Can you collect and drop-off my dog?
Yes, we charge £5 per mile from N8 8AX. For longer distances outside London, we are happy to negotiate a price.
What happens if my dog has a medical emergency?
We are trained in dog first aid so can help with minor issues. For anything that needs treatment, we would seek veterinary advice immediately. We are happy to contact your own vet, or our emergency 24-hour vet, depending on the severity of the injury. You will need to pay for any consultation or treatment prior to it being carried out. We would advise that your dog has pet insurance to cover the costs.
Can you follow specific training regimes?
Yes, absolutely. We know the importance of a consistent approach to training, so we are happy to reinforce training basics with your dog. If this involves extensive additional time and skills, this may incur an additional cost.
If my dog is on medication can we still make a reservation?
Yes, we are happy to administer medication.
What if my dog does not settle during their stay?
We encourage owners to visit us beforehand so that their dogs are familiar with the house and comfortable with us before being left. We normally find our guests settle in quickly once they’ve had a walk and a good meal, but if they are cause for concern, we will contact you.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured by a specialist pet care insurance agency. All documents are available to view on request.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, bank transfer, Paypal, credit and debit card payments.
What is your cancellation policy and when do I pay?
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to book a stay, with the balance due 14 days prior to your dog’s arrival. If for any reason we have to cancel your booking, you will be given at least 14 days notice (except in extreme circumstances) and your deposit returned to you.
Do you have a minimum or maximum stay length?
No.
Can I stay in touch with my dog while they are at The London Dog Hotel?
